Howdy y’all. Figured I’d share a pretty short post here, as I just figured out for myself how to turn OBS Studio
into my own personal webcam. If any of you have been paying attention to where I work, you’d be right that it is about doing this on a
popular linux distribution (not CentOS, lol).
Anyways, I did this on Ubuntu Eoan (19.10). The steps are ultimately pretty simple, and I’m sure I’m steamrolling over the “finer points”,
but who cares about all that nonsense, just copy and paste these lines without question
sudo modprobe v4l2loopback
Now you can use the added video device as output in OBS in Tools -> v4lsink menu now, hooray.
Set zoom or whatever up to use the dummy webcam up as cam. I noticed starting up zoom froze
the camera output for me, so start that up before OBS.
